Patrick Yung
Patrick Yung is senior vice president of Corporate Development and Strategic Investing at Independence Blue Cross (Independence). He is responsible for the enterprise efforts to manage and grow Independence’s portfolio of strategic innovation and other investments through partnerships, strategic alignment, and selective acquisitions.

Mr. Yung joined Independence in 2018. He brings more than 20 years of strategic investing and general management experience from leading payor, provider, health care IT, and institutional funds. Prior to joining Independence, he has held senior executive roles and scaled up businesses with UnitedHealth Group, CIGNA Healthcare, ConnectiCare, and Bain Capital Ventures. He began his career at Deloitte.

Mr. Yung is dedicated to serving the Philadelphia community and for nearly 20 years he has been actively involved with the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania where has been guest lecturer, leader of community service with Wharton and disadvantaged youth, perennial judge in the annual Wharton Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition, as well as recruiting and mentoring rising talent. He also serves on the board of directors for the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia.

Mr. Yung received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he graduated with honors. He is fluent in Cantonese.
