No family earns too much for its child to enroll in Keystone HMO CHIP

There are three main tiers of Keystone HMO CHIP coverage, which are based on a child’s age, family size, and family income.

  • Free Keystone HMO CHIP: The parent of an enrolled child is not responsible for a monthly premium and there are no copayments for covered services.
  • Low-cost Keystone HMO CHIP: The parent of an enrolled child is responsible for paying a monthly premium, which is a portion of the total cost of the health insurance coverage. In addition, there are copayments for some covered services.
  • Full-cost Keystone HMO CHIP: The parent of an enrolled child is responsible for paying a monthly premium, which is the total cost of the health insurance coverage. In addition, there are copayments for some covered services.

Keystone HMO CHIP family size and income

A Keystone HMO CHIP premium, if any, is determined by child's age, family size, and household income.¹

Keystone HMO CHIP eligibility

To enroll in Keystone HMO CHIP, a child must:

  • Be under age 19
  • Be a resident of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia counties
  • Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or a qualified alien
  • Not be covered by any other health insurance plan or can disenroll from their current plan within 60 days
  • Not be eligible for, or covered by, Medical Assistance or Medicare

1 If your family income falls below the minimum income level for Free Keystone HMO CHIP coverage in the Keystone HMO CHIP plan family size and income link above, your local County Assistance Office will notify you that your child may be eligible for Medical Assistance.
