Open Enrollment What you need to know

Under the Affordable Care Act, Open Enrollment is the time when individuals and families can enroll for health care coverage for the upcoming year. If you don’t have health care coverage, Open Enrollment is the time to apply. If you do have health insurance – but want to shop and compare your options, Open Enrollment is your chance to make a change.

When is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment ended January 19, 2024. The next Open Enrollment period begins November 1, 2024. If you missed the deadline, you may be able to enroll if you experience a qualifying life event. A qualifying life event, also known as a QLE, is a change in circumstance that may allow you to enroll in coverage outside of the annual Open Enrollment period.

With a Keystone HMO Proactive health plan, in-network providers are grouped into three tiers. Providers that offer high-quality care at a lower cost are in Tier 1 – Preferred, which includes more than half of in-network doctors and hospitals. You always have access to the full provider network.

Make sure your preferred providers are in the network

If you prefer to visit certain doctors, hospitals, or health care facilities, then make sure they’re in the Independence Blue Cross provider network. Independence Blue Cross is proud to offer the largest provider network in the region, with more than 60,000 doctors and more than 180 hospitals.

Use the Find a Doctor tool to see if your current doctors and facilities are in the network.
