Richard L. Snyder, M.D. Executive Vice President, Facilitated Health Networks

Richard Snyder, M.D., is the executive vice president of Facilitated Health Networks at Independence Health Group (Independence). He leads the strategic direction of work Independence does to redefine care delivery and promote equitable, whole-person health. This includes the company’s strategic work with physicians and health systems, as well as innovative provider contracts to drive improvements in health care quality and costs for Independence’s members.

Dr. Snyder’s team leads the company’s efforts to drive clinical care transformation by bringing vital clinical information to the point of care, integrating and coordinating care management efforts, and more closely aligning financial incentives between Independence and its participating physician and health system partners. This model provides the cornerstone for creation of a more streamlined, high-quality, satisfying, and affordable experience for Independence members.

Dr. Snyder is active in a variety of professional organizations. He serves on the board of directors for HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a regional health information organization for which he was founding chair. He is the past chair of the board of directors of the American Heart Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He also serves on the boards of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation and Tandigm Health, and he served on the Mayor’s Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic in Philadelphia.

He is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Snyder is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
