Find joy in everyday rituals

Simple, grounding routines can bring calm and connection during shorter, darker days. Here are a few of our favorites to try.

These everyday rituals may seem simple, but they can help you feel more connected, calm, and joyful — one day at a time.

Move for mood

Want to improve your mood? Try exercising. It doesn’t have to be vigorous physical activity. Even 10 minutes of movement can boost your energy and help you feel better.

Use your One Pass® fitness benefit to find indoor fitness centers in your area or virtual workouts that you can do at home.

Dr. Ramos says: Small moments, when done consistently, can have a big impact on your emotional wellbeing.

Seek out positive people

Connection matters, too. Call a friend, meet a neighbor for coffee, or share a warm meal with someone you enjoy. Schedule a weekly date with a friend or family member. Try connecting with someone new each week. Spending time with positive people can brighten your mood and help you feel supported.

Focus on small wins

Keep a notebook by your bed and write down three small things you’re thankful for each day. It could be a sunny moment, a kind word, or something nice you did for a stranger. This simple practice can ease stress and shift your focus to what’s going well.

Prioritize self-care

Don’t forget to make time for yourself. Research shows small acts of self-care can bring comfort and peace of mind. Listen to music, read a good book, cook your favorite meal, or relax in a warm bath. Aim to do at least one thing for yourself each day.
