As a member of IBX’s Actuarial Development Program, I had the opportunity to begin my career in the department’s rotation program. During these rotations, I experienced working on different teams in the Actuarial Department and developed a better view of the work we do to support the company’s goals. I also had the support of my managers throughout the actuarial exam process, which helped me to balance the time I spent on work and on studying. With that support, I was able to progress through the actuarial exams, attain my professional credentials, and eventually move to a management position over my 10+ years at IBX.

— John Cipolla, Manager & Actuary

The Actuarial Internship Program at IBX is designed to help students begin to develop the skills they will need as actuaries. Over the course of the summer, interns interact with actuaries from across the different actuarial disciplines of Pricing, Reserving, and Medical Cost. The interns are given opportunities to develop technical skills (e.g., software such as Excel, Big Query, R), communication, and teamwork skills, all while enhancing business knowledge and applying analytical skills to the assignments.

Many of our interns join us on a full-time basis after they graduate.
