Paul A. Tufano, Esq. Executive Vice President
Paul A. Tufano is executive vice president of Independence Blue Cross. As executive vice president, he provides overall leadership of Executive Council and Executive Leadership for governance of the executive team and oversees Public Affairs and the Independence Blue Cross Foundation. Previously Mr. Tufano served as executive vice president and president, Government Markets, and also led the Legal team.
Before joining Independence in 1999, Mr. Tufano was general counsel of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Governor Tom Ridge from January 1995 to November 1999. He was a member of both the Governor's cabinet and the Governor's senior staff. Throughout his career, he has been active in his support for funding legal services for the poor and has been honored by several prominent organizations for his efforts. He has also been recognized for his work with state charities and organizations that benefit the arts.
Mr. Tufano serves as vice chair of the board of trustees of Villanova University. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and is a board member of the Committee of Seventy.
Mr. Tufano holds a bachelor of science degree and a law degree from Villanova University.
