Physician Advisory Committee

Independence Blue Cross (IBC) formed the Physician Advisory Committee to discuss issues arising from interactions among allopathic/osteopathic physicians, their patients, and IBC. The Committee serves as a platform to exchange ideas and present peer/community interests to IBC, regarding health care matters at the national, regional, state and local levels.

These issues may include, but are not limited to:

• improvement of health care and clinical quality;
• improvement of communications, relations and cooperation between physicians and IBC;
• matters of a clinical or administrative nature that affect the interaction between physicians and IBC.

The Physician Advisory Committee meets at least once every six months. The committee is made up of 12 physicians, including IBC’s chief medical officer (or his designee), who serves as chairperson. Each physician was selected for their expertise and commitment to improve health care standards and practices.
