For members enrolled in an IBC prescription drug program, drugs have been excluded from coverage because they are available over-the-counter. Typically, drugs that are available over-the-counter are excluded from IBC prescription drug coverage. In addition, prior authorization requirements have been applied to additional drugs. The purpose of prior authorization is to ensure that drugs are medically necessary and are being used appropriately.
