IBC Senior Vice President Doug Chaet and New Incentive Program Featured in Philadelphia Business Journal

On May 6, an article in Philadelphia Business Journal profiled IBC’s new hospital/physician incentive program — Integrated Provider Performance Incentive Plan (IPPIP). This new pay-for-performance program is designed to improve quality and lower medical costs by basing financial rewards on certain performance measures.

IBC Senior Vice President Doug Chaet explained how this new incentive plan “encourages hospitals and physicians to integrate their efforts to reduce infections and readmissions.” This new program aligns with a national health care reform initiative that promotes the development of “Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs)” (i.e., a shared savings model where hospitals and physicians work together to coordinate care for their patients and share responsibility for providing efficient, high quality care).
