Press ReleaseIndependence Blue Cross Hosts Wellness Tour with Stops Throughout the Philadelphia RegionPhiladelphia, PA - April 19, 2007 - Independence Blue Cross, the region’s leading health insurer and title sponsor of the Blue Cross Broad Street Run, today announced a Wellness Tour to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage participation in the Blue Cross Broad Street Run on May 6. “We’re hitting the road over the next few weeks to talk directly to area residents and encourage them to take an active role in their health care,” said Joseph A. Frick, Independence Blue Cross president and chief executive officer. “Inspiring people to eat wisely, schedule preventative care, and exercise regularly, including running in the Blue Cross Broad Street Run, is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Delaware Valley.” From April 14 through May 1, the Independence Blue Cross Wellness Van will travel to nine prominent locations in the Delaware Valley. The van will be present at sporting events, county courthouses, local universities and Philadelphia City Hall. Visitors to the van can take advantage of free blood pressure checks and derma screens, which detect skin abnormalities. Anyone who participates in the screenings will be entered into a drawing for an exciting Philadelphia-theme gift package that includes a football autographed by Donovan McNabb.
