Press ReleaseIBC Officer Named One of the Most Influential African American Leaders by The Philadelphia TribunePhiladelphia, PA - February 15, 2007 - Independence Blue Cross (IBC) vice president of Government Relations Lorina Marshall-Blake was recently named one of Philadelphia’s most influential African American leaders by The Philadelphia Tribune. Marshall-Blake will be recognized tonight along with 103 other honorees at a black-tie reception at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This is the third consecutive year that The Tribune has recognized Marshall-Blake for her role in improving the quality of life of Philadelphians and for her commitment to making a difference in the Philadelphia community. At IBC, Marshall-Blake works closely with city, state and federal legislatures, regulatory bodies and other agencies to improve access to affordable, quality health care. She is also involved with more than 30 professional and civic organizations, including IBC’s corporate volunteer program, the Blue Crew, the Advisory Board of the National Adoption Center, and The Coalition of 100 Black Women. The Tribune’s list of the most influential African American leaders is “comprised of distinguished personalities from a multitude of career disciplines and experiences that have helped shape the character of the Philadelphia community,” wrote Tribune President and CEO Robert W. Bogle in the paper’s January 7th magazine section that features all the honorees. The publication goes on to say that those recognized “have gone above and beyond their jobs in volunteering their time to a number of organizations, and who have put education at the forefront of their battles.” “Lorina is a role model for all of us, given her strong commitment to community involvement,” said Joseph A.
