Independence Blue Cross Promotes Brett Mayfield to Vice President Sales

Focus on broker and direct new business development

Philadelphia, PA - August 22, 2006 - Independence Blue Cross (IBC) has announced the promotion of Brett A. Mayfield to Vice President Sales.

In his new role, Mayfield is responsible for broker and direct new business development and account retention. In addition, Mayfield will oversee the association program and individual insurance programs.

"Brett has been a strong force in our broker account sales area and has consistently delivered results. I'm personally excited that we will now leverage his leadership and sales expertise in our new business development, account retention and other critical sales areas of our business," said William F. Haggett, Chief Marketing Executive, to whom Mayfield reports.  

Mayfield was previously the Director Broker Accounts and was responsible for four broker units in new business and retention. Since 1992 when he began his career at IBC, Mayfield has remained focused on the broker community and successfully built, managed and expanded IBC's broker relationships.

Mayfield graduated from Shippensburg University with a B.S. degree. He and his wife Karen reside in Lansdale, PA.
