American Diabetes Association — Step Out
For the second year in a row, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) was the presenting sponsor of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes. On Saturday, October 3, 2009, more than 3,000 Philadelphia-area residents took part in the walk to show their strong support of the association’s mission. In addition to walking for the cause, participants — with the help of their family, friends, and co-workers — were able to raise money to help fund research and other diabetes-related efforts. This year the Philadelphia walk was able to close in on their target fundraising goal of $415,000. IBC associates, family, and friends were able to gather together as a group of more than 350 walkers who raised more than $30,000 with a company match of $10,000 from IBC. Through its partnership with the ADA, IBC demonstrates we’re here for members and the community every step of the way.
