EventsAmerican Diabetes Association — Step Out For the third consecutive year, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) is the presenting sponsor of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes. This year IBC President and CEO Joseph A. Frick is the Walk Chair and on Saturday, October 2, 2010, he will join thousands of Philadelphia-area residents at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for a 5K walk in support of this importance cause. In addition to walking for the cause, participants — with the help of their family, friends, and co-workers — are working tirelessly to raise money to help fund research and other diabetes-related efforts. Through its partnership with the ADA, IBC demonstrates we’re here for members and the community every step of the way. Discounts to The Mann Center Independence Blue Cross (IBC) members are invited to celebrate The Mann Center’s 75th Anniversary with discounts on tickets for select performances in August and September. 2010 Blue Cross Broad Street RunCongratulations to everyone who took part in the 31st annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run! In spite of the high temperatures and humidity, more than 26,000 runners completed the country’s largest 10-miler. The Blue Cross Broad Street Run has become Philadelphia’s most popular springtime race. For the first time, the City of Philadelphia capped race registration at 30,000 participants to make the race as safe and enjoyable as possible for runners. Independence Blue Cross is the proud title sponsor of the Blue Cross Broad Street Run. The race benefits the American Cancer Society with donations and pledge money supporting cancer research and patient care. National Walk @ Lunch Day™ On April 28, 2010, nearly 70 employers joined IBC in helping thousands of employees throughout the Philadelphia region turn a working lunch into a walking lunch. The third annual event for Philadelphia continues to demonstrate that even the smallest steps can lead to a healthier lifestyle. Many employees will keep the enthusiasm of this event alive by developing regular walking programs with their co-workers. |
