BlueSaver HSA Solutions (Health Savings Accounts) are member-owned personal savings accounts which can be funded by either the group or the member, and must be offered in conjunction with a federally qualified high deductible health plan. BlueSaver HSA Solutions provide a tax-free savings vehicle for medical expenses and are structured similar to an IRA. Deductions for qualified medical expenses are tax-free, while non-qualified expenses are subject to tax and penalty. Unused funds can accumulate to pay for future medical expenses or to supplement retirement savings. Under an HSA arrangement, the member owns the account, so if they change jobs, the account goes with them. Independence Blue Cross offers High Deductible Health Plans through our Personal Choice^® product line and has a preferred relationship with The Bancorp Bank to provide HSA services to our members.*
