Basic Option is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). When you have Blue Cross Basic Option PPO, you are not required to select a primary care physician or obtain referrals to see specialists, but you must use in-network providers for you care.
Features of Blue Cross Basic Option PPO
- Most services are subject to a single copayment: $20 for primary care services and $30 for specialists.
- You must use in-network, preferred providers for your care to be eligible for benefits (except in certain circumstances, such as emergency care).
- There are no deductibles and no referrals.
- Certain types of care must be approved in advance.
