Turn a Working Lunch into a Walking Lunch!

Take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle, and join us for the eighth annual National Walk @ Lunch Day® on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in Rittenhouse Square at 11:00 a.m.

Break out of your usual lunchtime routine and take part in National Walk @ Lunch Day. It’s fun, it encourages team-building, and it shows that 30 minutes and a pair of comfortable shoes are all you need to fit physical activity into your busy schedule.

It’s a short walk, but it can make a difference in the long run. Done briskly and on a regular basis, walking can:

  • Decrease the risk of heart attack and type-2 diabetes
  • Control weight
  • Improve muscle tone
  • Reduce stress

National Walk @ Lunch Day takes place each year on the last Wednesday of April, but employers can help carry the spirit throughout the year. By implementing an Independence worksite wellness program employers can help promote a healthier workplace. It also can help reduce health care costs by keeping employees motivated to make healthier lifestyle choices.
