Our corporate giving program has allowed us to provide meaningful support to area nonprofits. Together, we are working to promote good health, well-being, and vibrant communities.
Independence Blue Cross (IBX) understands that nonprofit organizations are the fabric of our local communities. Each year through sponsorships, more than 250 community organizations receive support from IBX for events, initiatives, programs, and other opportunities impacting hundreds of thousands of people in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

In 2023, IBX joined with The Philadelphia Union Foundation and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine to help launch HeadFirst, a groundbreaking initiative focused on enhancing mental fitness for youth soccer players.
Blue Cross® and Blue Shield® companies are partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America nationally to promote mental health and well-being. IBX collaborates with Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia to offer volunteer activities that foster well-being and inspire youth to thrive. These efforts complement the national partnership and have a direct impact on the local Philadelphia club and the children they serve.
In 2023, IBX announced its sponsorship of a three-year Hands-Only CPR education initiative with the American Heart Association focused on helping individuals understand how they can immediately help a person who experiences a cardiac emergency outside of a hospital. In addition, our associates raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease and stroke by participating in the annual Philadelphia Heart Walk as Team IBX.
Through a longstanding, shared commitment to empowering people to live healthier lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania, IBX is a proud supporter of various chapters of our local YMCA organizations. This includes teaming up with the Greater Philadelphia YMCA to deliver programming that encourages good health and well-being while building community.
IBX partnered with Philly Bike Ride on its Graduation on Wheels program launched in 2025 as part of its mission to make bicycling safer and more accessible. The pilot, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, incorporates bicycle training into physical education classes. After completing the year-long program, students are celebrated for mastering safe cycling skills and rewarded with brand-new bicycles, helmets, and locks, empowering them with transportation freedom and lifelong healthy habits.
For more than five years, IBX has supported Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) and its work to advance the health and well-being of the Greater Philadelphia region through horticulture. IBX serves as the Health and Wellness Sponsor of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event. In addition, Blue Crew volunteers make a hands-on impact throughout the year at PHS community gardens and farms.
