For the seventh year, Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is proud to recognize and celebrate nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community through our Celebrate Caring campaign.
Share your story of a nurse who has made a lasting impact on your life by May 31, 2025, for a chance to have that nurse recognized and rewarded through Celebrate Caring.
Three winners will be selected and presented with the Sunshine Award for their commitment to delivering compassionate care, dedication to the community, and innovation in their work. The award is named in honor of the late Paula Sunshine, former IBX Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Executive, who helped launch Celebrate Caring in 2019.

As the clinical director and forensic nurse manager at the Philadelphia Sexual Assault Response Center, Allison has transformed the landscape of forensic nursing in Philadelphia. Her advocacy also extends beyond the clinic.
By day, Francis is a dedicated cardiac ICU nurse at Penn Medicine and a nurse practitioner student. In his personal time, Francis volunteers with The Kensington Project, providing wound care to people experiencing homelessness in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.
As a member of Penn Medicine’s inpatient diabetes consult team, Jasmine identifies social determinants of health as barriers to follow-up care. Beyond the hospital, Jasmine has also introduced a series of weekend diabetes education classes in the community.
