Alan KrigsteinEVP, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer
As executive vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer, Alan Krigstein is responsible for all financial functions for Independence Blue Cross (IBC) and its subsidiaries. He also plays a key role in strategic planning and strategic new business development for IBC. Krigstein joined the company in 2009.
Krigstein has more than 35 years experience in the insurance and health care industries. Prior to his current position, he served as senior vice president of Finance, chief financial officer, and treasurer at AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies (now AmeriHealth Caritas), one of the country’s largest Medicaid organizations, in which IBC is the majority shareholder, serving millions of beneficiaries in more than a dozen states through Medicaid managed care plans, administrative services, benefits management, behavioral health care, and other services. Krigstein had executive oversight of the corporate financial functions and financial oversight of new business development.
Krigstein has served on the board of Community Behavioral HealthCare Network of Pennsylvania (CBHNP), a behavioral health company wholly owned by AmeriHealth Caritas, and currently serves on the Board and Finance Committee of Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA), a leading trade association of Medicaid health plans. He is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Krigstein received MHPA's Joy Wheeler Leadership Award in 2008, and was previously nominated for CFO magazine’s CFO Excellence Award.
Krigstein holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware.
