Paul A. Tufano President
Mr. Tufano is also chairman and chief executive officer of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, one of the nation’s leading Medicaid managed care organizations. Headquartered in Philadelphia, AmeriHealth Caritas serves 15 states and the District of Columbia, helping those most in need get care, stay well, and build healthy communities.
Prior to his role as president of Independence Health Group, Mr. Tufano served as executive vice president of Independence, providing overall leadership of its executive council. Previously, Mr. Tufano served as executive vice president and president, Government Markets and as general counsel.
Prior to joining Independence, Mr. Tufano served as general counsel of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, overseeing a staff of over 500 attorneys who represented Governor Tom Ridge and the Executive Branch in litigation, transactions, and regulatory, legislative and criminal justice matters. He was a member of the Governor’s Cabinet and the Governor’s Senior Staff.
Mr. Tufano is a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree and law degree.
