Independence Blue Cross Announces Senior Management Promotion

Yvette D. Bright promoted to lead eBusiness and Operations

Philadelphia, PA - June 27, 2005 - Independence Blue Cross announced today that Yvette D. Bright has been promoted to Senior Vice President of eBusiness and Operations. Bright was most recently the Vice President for eCommerce.

Frick, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) President and CEO. "Throughout her 14 years of service with IBC, Yvette has consistently demonstrated an energy, vision and willingness to take on the most complicated of assignments that has earned her the respect of her peers and business partners, both internally and externally. As the healthcare business becomes increasingly complicated, we are fortunate to have someone of Yvette's talent and abilities leading our efforts in these critical business areas."

In her new role, Bright will oversee all eBusiness initiatives and operational areas, including claims, enrollment, and provider and member services. She will report to Michael Green, Senior Vice President, Processing Services and Information Technology.

Bright has been with IBC since 1991, holding a variety of roles with increasing responsibilities in the operational, provider and marketing areas. She was selected to lead IBC's eBusiness initiatives in 2001. Today, more than 2.9 million transactions are processed electronically each month, a credit to Bright's leadership.

Prior to joining IBC, Bright held several positions in marketing, training and consulting services with International Business Machines (IBM) in the United States and London, England. At IBM UK, she was responsible for the creation of a new business segment for contracting and consulting services in mid-range systems.

A Tulane University School of Engineering graduate, Yvette received an MBA in healthcare management from St. Joseph's University. Yvette was named to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Leadership Class of 1998 in recognition for her community service and philanthropic contributions. She served several years on the Board of Summit Children's Program and currently serves on the Boards of Walnut Street Theatre and Philadelphia Children's Theatre.

Bright and her husband, Robert, reside in West Mount Airy in Philadelphia with their daughter, Taylor, and son, Jason.
