Press ReleaseRegistration for May 1st Blue Cross Broad Street Run11,000+ runners expected to take part in 26th Annual Philadelphia 10-Mile race; other events announced for weekend of April 29th, 30th, and May 1st Philadelphia, PA - April 19, 2005 - Independence Blue Cross and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation are continuing the runner registration drive for the 26th Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run, officials announced today. The race is the second largest 10-miler in the country. It will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. in Philadelphia, beginning at the Central High School athletic field and finishing at the Philadelphia Navy Yard at the end of Broad Street. Trophies and more than $10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top five finishers in male, female, masters, wheelchair and age group divisions. The entry fee is $28.00 up to April 29, 2005 and $33.00 at the EXPO. “This year’s 26th Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a great opportunity for running enthusiasts to come into Philadelphia and compete in the second largest 10-mile race in the country,” said Chris Cashman, Senior Vice President, Corporate and Public Affairs at Independence Blue Cross. “As the area’s premier health insurer, Independence Blue Cross is proud to sponsor this year’s Run and help promote better health and fitness through participation in this event.” Runners also can raise money for the American Cancer Society by signing up pledged sponsors for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run.
