Member Appreciation
Among the thousands of runners this year were more than 5,000 members of Independence Blue Cross (IBC) health plans. As they did last year, IBC offered support and help to these members/runners as they prepared in the months before the race. Calendar reminders, early registration discounts, and custom online training guides were sent directly to their e-mail boxes. The training guides included workout regimens, gear checks, nutritional tips, as well as advice from local professionals on running, weight training, and cross training. In addition, members will receive a free pair of running socks and a runner’s logbook to give them a head start for next year’s race.
For a Great Cause
The real winner of this event was the American Cancer Society, the beneficiary of the race. Participants were encouraged to raise pledges and every dollar raised goes toward cancer research and patient care.
IBC Volunteers
Close to 100 IBC “Blue Crew” employees volunteered their time to the race and associated events. IBC applauds the physical and philanthropic efforts of race participants and would also like to thank all those who volunteered their time to make this event so successful.
