Independence Blue Cross and Penn Medicine share ideas about health care innovation

Two leaders talk about partnership and technology at industry webinar

Philadelphia, PA - April 25, 2014 - Independence Blue Cross (Independence) Vice President of Corporate Development and Innovation Terry Booker and Penn Medicine Chief Innovation Officer Roy Rosin today presented ideas about ways to improve health care in the Philadelphia region through innovation and partnership at a webinar sponsored by the Corporate Research Group and attended by health plan and health system leaders across the nation.

Technology-enabled innovation represents the future of healthcare and Independence and Penn Medicine have allocated resources and built a strong partnership to identify effective new health care delivery approaches. They are also providing capital investment and expert guidance and mentoring to help health care start-ups create and launch new businesses. Some of the initiatives they have supported include virtual health insurance cards, diagnostics via smart phone, remote monitoring, EHR-based decision support and price transparency.
