IBC Senior Leader Daniel J. Hilferty Receives 2010 Gaudenzia Community Champion Award

Philadelphia, PA - May 11, 2010 - Gaudenzia Inc., Pennsylvania's largest provider of substance abuse and mental-related illness treatment and prevention programs, honors a distinguished citizen each year for his or her outstanding leadership and service to the local community.

Tonight, Gaudenzia recognized Daniel J. Hilferty, president of health markets, Independence Blue Cross, with its prestigious 2010 Gaudenzia/Gustave G. Amsterdam Community Champion award for his exemplary service, commitment, and support of Philadelphia community-based programs. More than 500 supporters attended, and funds raised will be used to support Gaudenzia's Greater Philadelphia region.

"Dan's commitment to improving the health and wellness of people in our region and his leadership in motivating others to give back to their community are exemplary," said Michael Harle, executive director/CEO of Gaudenzia. "We are pleased to recognize him with our highest honor, and to celebrate tonight the importance of supporting others in need."
