Independence Blue Cross Names Yvette Bright to Lead Human Resources and Administration

Philadelphia, PA - March 26, 2009 - Independence Blue Cross has appointed Yvette D. Bright as the company’s new senior vice president of Human Resources and Chief Administrative Officer.  In her new role, Bright reports to president and chief executive officer Joseph A. Frick and is responsible for the company’s Human Resources function including establishing a high-performing associate culture and developing the tools, training and talent pool to deliver increased results. As chief administrative officer, Bright has broad responsibilities for strategic and operational planning, new business development, procurement and portfolio management, which includes overseeing the company’s real estate portfolio and building operations.

Bright assumes this role after serving as senior vice president, e-Business and Operations for IBC, where she managed all e-Business initiatives and operational areas, including claims, enrollment, provider services, and member services. 

Prior to joining IBC in 1991, Bright held several positions in marketing, training, and consulting services with International Business Machines in the United States and London, England. At IBM UK, she created a new business segment for contracting and consulting services in mid-range systems.

Bright is a member of the boards at the Walnut Street Theater and Philadelphia Children's Theater. She is a Tulane University School of Engineering graduate and received an MBA in health care management from St. Joseph's University. Ms. Bright received the 2007 Candace Award for Women of Achievement from the South Jersey chapter of the National Coalition of Black Women. She lives in Philadelphia, PA with her husband and two children.
