Race day — May 4, 8:30 a.m., rain or shine

The race starts promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Central High School Athletic Field
Broad Street and Somerville Avenue

  • Don’t miss the group warm-up on Central High School’s track.

Parking and complimentary shuttles

Free parking is available at the end of Broad Street in South Philadelphia (near the finish line). To get to the starting line, all runners can ride SEPTA’s Broad Street subway line free by displaying their official race number to the cashier at any Broad Street Line stop. When the race is over, shuttle buses will be available to take runners back to the parking lot from the finish line.

  • Avoid the rush: Plan to board the subway before 7 a.m.
  • Bring your own bag: There’s free gear transportation.

During the race

  • Thirsty? There are 11 water stations along the racecourse (five also have Gatorade).
  • Got to go? There are more than 150 restrooms located throughout the racecourse.
  • Need help? If you don’t feel well, three hospitals and plenty of emergency personnel are along the race route.

At the finish

  • You’re #1: You must have your race-number tear-off to get your refreshment packet.
  • Check your laces: Return your chip to get your official race time.
  • Hitch a ride: The yellow school buses will take you to and from the parking areas.
  • Have fun!

Independence Blue Cross is the proud title sponsor of this Mid-Atlantic USATF Grand Prix event. The Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a USATF-certified, point-to-point course that starts at the Central High School Athletic Field at Broad Street and Somerville Avenue. The course finishes inside the Philadelphia Naval Business Yard at the end of Broad Street in South Philadelphia. There are 11 water stations, digital clocks at each mile, first aid stations, port-a-potties, entertainment, and numerous ambulances on the course.
